Vers le Nord 2021

TASTING NOTE:

An impressive nose, starting with a zest of pomelo and orange, following with the notes of blackberry and black currant. On the palate this wine is rich with fruit flavours balanced nicely with firm acidity. This wine offers plenty of opulence and aromatic freshness, the sign of a great Grenache wine derived from calcareous schist and red clay.

FOOD PAIRING :

Roast or confit duck, roast beef or T-bone steak.

TERROIR AND VINE MANAGEMENT:

This terroir is situated within the Deveze district. The vineyard is planted on a unique 2-ha parcel having different types of soil. Decomposed calcareous schist is mixed with blue limestone, situated upon a fringe of iron-laden clay. The soils are tilled on a regular basis.
The yield is limited to 20 hl/ha. Old vines, more than 50 years old, are grown 100% biodynamically.

GRAPE VARIETIES:

Old vines of Grenache Noir, planted with Syrah (about 8% of the vines within the parcel) highlight the freshness of this terroir. Citrus (lemon and blood orange) and blackberry notes come to the fore, as well as floral aromas.

HARVEST:

Double manual sorting of the bunches on a belt and vibrating table.
A third of the harvest is de-stemmed.

WINEMAKING :

In 50 hl stainless steel vats.

MATURATION AND BOTTLING:

In concrete vats until bottling.

GUARD TIME:

10 to 15 years old
